What Is Chaldean Numerology?

Chaldean numerology is one of the oldest numerological systems, originating in ancient Babylonia (modern-day Iraq) and closely linked to Vedic traditions. It differs from the more common Pythagorean system in several important ways:

  • Letters are assigned values 1 through 8 — the number 9 is considered sacred and not assigned to any letter
  • The system uses the name you are most commonly known by, not necessarily the full legal birth name
  • Compound numbers (two-digit numbers before reduction) are given special significance
  • It is widely used across South Asia and the Middle East
